Keeping our dogs safe on Bonfire Night

Bonfire night, with its dazzling fireworks and crackling bonfires, is nearly upon us again.

While it can be a delight for humans, for our furry friends, especially dogs, it can be a source of great stress and anxiety. The loud noises and bright lights can easily frighten them.

As pet owners, it's our duty to ensure our dogs feel safe during this festivities. In this blog post, I want to share some tips on how to keep your best friend calm and safe on Bonfire Night.

Create a safe haven

On Bonfire Night, it's best to keep your dog indoors. Walk them during daylight hours and ensure they have a chance to relieve themselves before the noise begins. Dogs are less likely to be distressed if they're in a familiar environment.

Close windows and curtains

Reduce noise and block out the flashes of fireworks by closing windows and curtains. This helps muffle the sound and makes the bright lights less visible, providing a sense of security for your pet.

Consider some calming products

Consider using calming products like anxiety wraps or calming sprays. These products can help alleviate anxiety and create a more relaxed atmosphere for your dog.

Stay calm and reassuring

Dogs can sense their owner's emotions. Stay calm and reassure your dog if they show signs of distress. Your soothing presence can make a significant difference in their comfort level.

Avoid leaving them alone
